Published at(NEW YORK) — Roger Federer, the men’s top seed at the US Open, was ousted by Tomas Berdych 7-6 (1), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, Wednesday night.
“I’m disappointed you know,” Federer said. “I really expected myself to play better, especially at night, I’ve had such a great record. I felt good. It was just such an amazing summer I had that I really thought I was going to come out and play a solid match.”
This is the first time since 2003 that Federer was eliminated before the semifinals at the Open.
Novak Djokovic is now the top seed remaining in the men’s draw.
