(NEW YORK) — Apple on Tuesday confirmed its widely-rumored Sept. 12 media event, where the company is expected to introduce the next generation of its wildly-popular iPhone — what many are calling “iPhone 5.”
“It’s almost here,” the invitation says. An illustration on the invite shows the number 12, the shadow of which forms the number 5 – perhaps a reference to the new iPhone.
“Please join us for an invitation-only event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco on September 12,” the invitation reads.
Apple has been silent on the next version of its popular phone, but the rumors have been loud. The phone is rumored to have a larger display, faster processor, a new dock connector and a new design. The phone is likely to be released a week and a half after the event, on Sept. 21.
According to ABC News’ sources, Apple is planning to hold a separate event in October to introduce a smaller iPad or iPad Mini.
