Boley picked off Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo near midfield in the second quarter and was heading towards the endzone when Smith made the illegal tackle at Dallas’ two-yard line.

“Last effort, I did what I could to make the play,” Smith said.

The officials marked the ball at the one-yard line. New York failed to convert a touchdown, instead settling for a field goal to give them a 3-0 lead.

The Cowboys would go on to defeat the Giants, 24-17.
