Radical Cleric Abu Hamza to be Extradited to United States
Published at(LONDON) — A radical cleric in Britain will soon be extradited to the United States, after eight years of detention without a trial.
Having lost his final legal battle in the European Court of Human Rights, Abu Hamza, long-known for his fiery anti-Western rants, will soon be U.S.-bound to face a list of charges, including assisting hostage-takers in Yemen and conspiring to set up an extremist training camp in rural Oregon.
Four other suspects in the U.K. have also lost their extradition appeals. Their lawyers argued unsuccessfully that they should be tried in Britain. All could face life sentences in the U.S., if convicted.
