Two days before television’s biggest of the year, stars from all walks of television turned out to fete each other and the upcoming Emmy Awards. Girls mingled with Modern Family, Veep’s cast broke bread with the residents of 30 Rock, and one Real Housewife opened her home up to, well, real people.

Adrienne Maloof hosted a pre-Emmys beauty salon at her sprawling Beverly Hills mansion. Despite the 90-degree plus temperatures and her headline-making divorce, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star threw her doors open to guests like Brooke Mueller, who were treated to massages, hair styling, makeovers, cocktails, and food prepared by Maloof’s private chef, all while attempting to not get their high heels stuck in her backyard.

As the day cooled off, the parties heated up. Women in Film and Variety took over Scarpetta in Beverly Hills, honoring Emmy nominees and their pals with Saint Vintage jewelry. ABCNews.com asked Veep star and best lead actress in a comedy nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfuss which real-life counterpart her HBO character, Selina Meyer, would rather spend time with — Joe Biden or Paul Ryan?

“I think she likes both of those gentlemen very much, because she straddles the aisle,” she quipped, diplomatically. Maybe she can parlay this role into a real-life stint in Washington.

Entertainment Weekly’s party at Fig & Olive was Friday night’s hottest ticket. Louis-Dreyfuss bonded with Girls actress Allison Williams (perhaps it helped that they were both wearing watermelon-colored dresses).  Damian Lewis expressed his “utter disbelief” at being nominated for best lead actor in a drama for Homeland. Connie Britton of Friday Night Lights and American Horror Story fame (she’s up for best supporting actress in a miniseries for the latter) gracefully accepted well wishes for her new show Nashville, which premieres next month on ABC.

But the sweetest moment of the night (not counting the passed cups of custard) went to Modern Family’s Julie Bowen. As the clock edged toward midnight, she kicked up her silver stilettos and jumped into a photo booth with Justin Mikita, the newly announced fiancé of her co-star and fellow Emmy nominee, Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
