Toyota Yaris Ranked Worst in Injury Claims, Insurance Study Finds
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Toyota Yaris is fuel-efficient, but is it safe? The answer is no, according to the Highway Loss Data Institute. Their statistics show that drivers are more likely to get hurt in a Yaris than in any other vehicle.
In the last three years, the report says, more than 28 personal injuries claims were filed for every one thousand Yaris cars insured. The safest vehicle, says the HLDI, is the Porsche 911, with a rate of 4.5 claims filed per 1,000 vehicles.
Toyota disputes the report, arguing the subcompact was named a 2012 top safety pick by another group, The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
