The Mavericks are in the process of negotiating with West’s agent to arrange his departure from the team. On Thursday, West was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. It was the second time he was suspended by the team over the past couple weeks, but his first suspension lasted just 21 hours.

ESPNDallas.com is reporting that West claims he was being blamed for an argument between two of his former teammates after the team’s preseason loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday night. He then got a text the next morning asking him not to report to practice.

“There was an argument between two teammates in the locker room last night that didn’t involve me,” West said on Thursday. “Somehow I’m being blamed for it. I had nothing to do with it. I don’t know what’s going on.”

In his lone season with the Mavericks, West averaged 9.6 points and 3.2 assists per game off the bench for Dallas in 2011-2012.
