(BOISE) – An Idaho soldier has died in Afghanistan, the sixth serviceman from the Gem State to be killed this year. The Department of Defense says Army Pfc. Shane G. Wilson of Kuna died last Thursday in the Khost Province near the border with Pakistan. The region has been plagued by suicide bombers and other attacks in recent weeks. Authorities indicated that Wilson died of “non-hostile” causes, though a detailed report has yet to be released. A total of 14 Idaho soldiers have died in Afghanistan since the war began, 11 coming after the 2010 troop surge.
