Molotov Bomber Sought After Calif. Man Set Ablaze

abc molotov tk 121022 wmain?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1350930910936Long Beach Police Dept. (LOS ANGELES) — Police in Long Beach, Calif., are searching for a suspect who threw a flaming Molotov cocktail at a man outside a convenience store Friday night, seriously injuring him with severe burns.

Police say that the 54-year-old victim was sitting outside a Ranch Market store on PCH in Long Beach around 7 p.m. when a suspect came out from an adjacent alleyway and tossed the Molotov cocktail at his feet, setting him ablaze.

Long Beach Police Department released the surveillance video of the incident Sunday.

The video also showed some witnesses putting out the victim’s flames with blankets. It also shows a mother pulling her child in a stroller away from the flames.

Police said that the motive for this incident remain unclear. “The suspect is still outstanding and Long Beach PD is still searching for him,” Sergeant Aaron Eaton, the public information officer of Long Beach Police Department told ABC News.

“We are asking the public for their help in this matter to help us catch the suspect,” said Eaton.

“The victim is still at the local hospital he was transported to after the incident. He remains to be in critical yet stable condition,” said Eaton.
