Justin Edmonds/Getty Images(SAN DIEGO) — The Denver Broncos (2-3) will head to San Diego on Monday night to take on the Chargers (3-2).

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers understands the importance of the game with first place on the line in the AFC West.

“We’re playing for a two game lead in the division at the bye,” said Rivers.  “If that doesn’t get you fired up, nothing will. It’s exciting.”

Chargers head coach Norv Turner is looking forward to the challenge of playing a tough Denver team.

“Every game you’ve got a chance to win, it’s important to go win,” said Turner.  “It’s exciting. This is why you play.”

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and his offense has begun to click and would like to lead his team to victory for a tie in the West.

“Plenty of reasons to be motivated and ready for this game,” said Manning.  “You’re playing for a potential shot at first place in the division, which is certainly one of our goals.”
