No.13 USC Comes Back to Trounce Utah, 38-28
Published at(SALT LAKE CITY, UT) — The No.13 USC Trojans came from behind Thursday night to top the Utah Utes 38-28 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The Utes (2-3) came out firing, taking a 21-10 lead midway through the second quarter.
Trojan senior quarterback Matt Barkley took the game into his own hands, throwing three touchdown passes to give his team a 31-21 lead. He finished with 303 yards and three scores.
He connected 12 times with receiver Marquise Lee, including an 83-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Lee had a monster night with 192 receiving yards and a score.
Running back Silas Redd added 77 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Junior cornerback Nickell Robey added a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown to seal the victory for USC (4-1).
Utes quarterback Jon Hays threw two touchdowns and one interception.
Overall the two teams combined for 736 yards of offense and 222 penalty yards.
