Report: Hall Of Fame Boxing Trainer Emanuel Steward Passes Away At 68
Published at(DETROIT) — Boxing Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward passed away on Thursday at the age of 68, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Steward’s sister, Diane Steward-Jones, told the Free Press that her brother had been in a Chicago-area hospital for several weeks after undergoing surgery for diverticulitis.
Steward owned and operated Kronk Gym in Detroit, where he took Thomas Hearns and made him a world champion in four divisions.
In later years, he helped Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko capture the World Heavyweight Championship. He also served as a boxing analyst for HBO Sports.
