The Pittsburgh Steelers, unable to find a hotel in the area because of power outages stemming from Sandy, flew in Sunday morning and stole a win on the road from the New York Giants.

The Steelers flew from Pittsburgh to New Jersey Sunday morning and traveled straight to MetLife Stadium without stopping at a hotel for breakfast.

NFL rules mandate teams to travel to road games the night before, but they were granted an exception due to the lack of places to house an entire football team.

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns, Issac Redman rushed for 147 yards and a score in a 24-20 victory over the defending Super Bowl Champions.

The Steelers improved to 5-3 with the win.

The Giants (6-3) did their best to try and win this game for all those who were affected by the storm.  They led 20-10 in the fourth quarter but allowed the Steelers to score two touchdowns in the final period to take the lead.

Eli Manning had a rough game, throwing for only 125 yards and an interception and did not get a chance to provide any fourth-quarter magic for the Giants.

Head coach Mike Tomlin earned his 60th career win.

“This is a game,” Tomlin added. “What happened here is life and reality.”
