As Today‘s Al Roker delivered a weather forecast, Tyler was heard in the background saying to the crowd, “Thanks for coming out, you crazy f**ks!”  Following the faux pas, Roker quipped, “That’s why they haven’t done mornings.”

Earlier in the show, Tyler also seemed to be confused about just what program he was on.  As host Matt Lauer introduced the group, the Demon of Screamin’ declared, “Good morning, America!”

Lauer responded by saying, “No, no, no!  Good morning, Steven,” while Roker added, “That’s why they haven’t done morning television.  They don’t even know what show they’re on!”

In addition to performing, Aerosmith also sat down to chat with Lauer.  The group discussed their new album, Music from Another Dimension!, while Tyler and Joe Perry talked about their often contentious relationship and their mutual respect for each other.

Tyler also revealed Aerosmith will be performing on tonight’s Hurricane Sandy Coming Together Benefit special, which will air live at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, USA Network, SyFy, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, E!, Style Network, G4 and other channels.

The singer revealed, “I can’t not do it.  I was born in Manhattan, so I gotta do this.”

The event, which also will include appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Sting and Billy Joel, will raise funds for American Red Cross relief efforts.
