Survey Reveals Marlins’ Fans Displeasure with Management

Kersey/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Toronto Blue Jays fans are likely doing cartwheels over the recent blockbuster trade the team made with the Miami Marlins, but a new survey conducted by the Miami Herald shows just how upset the Marlins’ fans are over the deal.

While it may not come to a surprise, the paper polled 400 people and just puts into persepctive jsut how the fanbase feels about the recent trade:

  • 87 percent of Marlins’ fans feel betrayed by team ownership.
  • 85 percent of Marlins’ fans feel the trade will benefit the Blue Jays more than the Marlins.
  • 95 percent of Marlins’ fans belives the trade was a “firesale,” but only 4 percent of fans think the trade was made to make the team better.
  • 89 percent of Marlins’ fans feel that owner Jeffrey Luria has a moral obligation to field a good team because of the publicly funded stadium that opened up this past season.

In the trade, the Marlins shipped Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Emilio Bonafacio and John Buck.
