“Twilight” Tops Thanksgiving Weekend Box Office
Published at(NEW YORK) — Moviegoers feasted on the latest Twilight and James Bond films during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
For the second consecutive weekend, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 was the box office champ, earning an estimated $43.1 million. It raked in $64 million from Wednesday through Sunday.
The Bond flick Skyfall ranked second, with $36 million raised over the weekend and $51 million over the same five-day period.
Among the new films, the animated Rise of the Guardians debuted in fourth place, collecting $24 million from Friday through Sunday.
Life of Pi was close behind in the fifth spot, with $22 million.
The Red Dawn remake opened in seventh place, earning $14.6 million over the three-day weekend.
Overall, the box office raked in about $290 million from Wednesday through Sunday — a new Thanksgiving-week record.
