The legal fee payment stems from an earlier unsuccessful lawsuit in which Randolph sued the actor and his attorney Marty Singer for defamation.

Randolph had released a book alleging Travolta engaged in sexual activities with other men in spas.  Randolph had stated in his suit that Singer wrote a letter that made false claims that he spent time in a mental institution in an attempt to discredit his book, You’ll Never Spa in This Town Again.

The letter was sent to Gawker.com after the website published an article highlighting Randolph’s claims.  A Los Angeles judge dismissed the complaint in September, ruling that the letter is protected under the First Amendment.

Now, Randolph must pay Travolta’s legal fees and court costs.

Singer said in a statement, “This legal fee award is another complete and total victory for Mr. Travolta.  Anyone else who files a ridiculous lawsuit against him should expect a similar outcome.”
