Childhood Obesity Rates Up

(BOISE) – Idaho’s childhood obesity rates are higher than ever.
In a survey of 2,100 third graders conducted by the state’s Department of Health and Welfare, the average number of obese students increased to 14.6 percent compared to 12.8 percent just four years ago.
KPVI reports that the Eastern Idaho Public Health region had an average obesity rate of 13 percent, while the Southeastern Idaho Public Health region had an obesity rate of 17.9 percent.
