Clippers Edge Jazz Behind Griffin
Published at(SALT LAKE CITY) — Blake Griffin scored 30 points to lead the Los Angeles Clippers past the Utah Jazz 105-104 on Monday night.
Randy Foye, who came over from the Clippers to the Jazz in the off season, missed a three-pointer at the buzzer after a steal that would have won the game for Utah (9-10).
“In the first half, it was almost a waste of time because no one showed up,” Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said of his team. “Our defense was weak, we were soft and we had no toughness. … But I was very pleased with the way we responded…and made plays down the stretch.”
Griffin added 11 rebounds for the Clippers (11-6), who fought back from a 14-point third quarter deficit despite hitting only 4 of 21 three pointers.
Mo Williams, another ex-Clipper, led Utah with 20 points and 12 assists.
