“Game of Thrones” Is Most Pirated TV Show of 2012

HBO(NEW YORK) — When it comes to illegally downloaded TV shows, one series is king. The throne belongs to season two of Game of Thrones.
The HBO show saw close to 4.3 million illegal downloads for a single episode in 2012, according to the website Torrent Freak. The show pulls in about 4.2 million viewers in the U.S.
The second-most illegally downloaded show also has more poachers than those who pay. Dexter saw nearly 3.9 million downloads, versus almost 2.8 million viewers on Showtime.
The Big Bang Theory is third, though its 3.2 million downloads is dwarfed by the almost 16 million that watch on TV.
