Shaw served as the teams offensive coordinator for four seasons before being hired as Stanford’s head coach in 2011, replacing the departed Jim Harbaugh.

In his two seasons as head coach, Shaw has led the team to back-to-back 11 win seasons and won Pac-12 coach of the year in both years. He was in the second year of a four year contract.

“I feel blessed to work every day with an outstanding staff and coach the best group of young men in America,” Shaw said. “I am excited to lead the Stanford football program for many years to come.”

Shaw and the 8th ranked Cardinals will take on Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 in Pasadena, California.
