Jefferson County School District Faces $1.1M Deficit

  Published at

(RIGBY) – Administrators in the Jefferson County School District say they’re facing a $1.1 million deficit unless something is done.

Superintendent Ron Tolman told KIDK the district’s student body has grown by up to four percent each year for the past several years, but state cuts to education have left students at a disadvantage.

Tolman is proposing serious cuts to the district next school year and a $3 million supplemental levy to make up for $7.6 million in lost revenue since 2009.

He’s currently working with state lawmakers in an effort to restore lost funding.
