He also ran for a 72-yard touchdown in the third quarter en route to a career-high 116 rushing yards.

The Panthers (4-9), despite playing without four starters and have 13 players on injured reserve, took a 16-point lead into halftime and never looked back.

DeAngelo Williams played well in place of the injured Jonathan Stewart, rushing 17 times for 56 yards while also scoring on a 53-yard touchdown pass from Newton.

This game was viewed as payback for the Panthers, who lost 30-28 to Atlanta earlier this season at the Georgia Dome.

Matt Ryan threw for 342 yards, two touchdowns, and one costly interception for Atlanta.
