“Thunderbirds,” “Space: 1999” Creator Gerry Anderson Dead at 83
Published at(LONDON) — Gerry Anderson, the creator of television shows such as Thunderbirds and Stringray, has died. He was 83.
Anderson’s son, Jamie Anderson, made the announcement on his website Wednesday, writing that his father “died peacefully in his sleep.”
Anderson’s shows often featured superhero and villain puppets on strings, a technique that he dubbed “supermarionation.” His other credits include Captain Scarlet, Joe 90 and the live-action sci-fi series Space: 1999.
Anderson had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease in recent years.
