Blue Jays Agree To One-Year Contract With INF Mark DeRosa
Published at(TORONTO) — The Toronto Blue Jays reached an agreement with free agent infielder Mark DeRosa Tuesday on a one-year contract, worth $750,000.
In 48 games last year with the Washington Nationals, the 37-year-old DeRosa batted .188 with five doubles and six RBIs. On the field, the 15-year Major League veteran played three games at first base, one game at second and shortstop, 11 at third, nine in left field and seven in right field.
To make room for DeRosa on the 40-man roster, the Jays designated righthanded pitcher Sam Dyson for assignment.
