After the dust was settled, the two teams left the ice in the same position.

The Bruins Brad Marchand scored the game winning goal in the shootout, as the Bruins downed the Devils, 2-1.

Boston (5-0-1, 11pts) was trailing 1-0 most of the game, but Nathan Horton tied it when he scored on a three-on-two breakaway with 4:05 left in the game.

The Devils (3-0-2 8pts) started the scoring at the 8:30 mark in the second period when center David Clarkson scored on a power play, the first power play goal the B’s have allowed this season.

The win has the Bruins off to their best start since the 1970-71 season.
