Celtics Edge Heat 100-98 In Double Overtime
Published at(BOSTON) — On the same day they lost All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo to a torn ACL, the Boston Celtics came out and got their biggest win of the season.
Paul Pierce notched a triple-double and hit the go-ahead jumper with 35 seconds left to lead the Celtics to a 100-98 double overtime win over the Miami Heat, snapping a six-game losing streak. Pierce totaled 17 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Kevin Garnett added 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Celtics, who improved to 21-23 with the victory.
LeBron James had 34 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists in the loss for the Heat (28-13), who came into the game winners of four straight.
Heat guard Ray Allen played his first game in Boston since leaving the Celtics after five seasons. He scored 21 points in 38 minutes and was booed loudly by the crowd throughout the game.
