Fresh off receiving the number one ranking in the country, the Cardinals dispatched the Huskies 73-58 at the XL Center on Monday night.

Cardinals guard Peyton Siva sat most of the first half after picking up two early fouls, and the Huskies (12-4) took advantage, taking a 34-28 lead into the break. However, the preseason Big East Player Of The Year made his mark in the second half and finished with 11 points, four assists and three steals.

“We did a good job of weathering a Peyton Siva storm, with him out,” Louisville coach Rick Pitino said. “Once he came back and we weathered that storm, we were able to play much better defense and much better offense.”

The Cardinals (16-1) won their 11th straight and got a big game from Russ Smith, who had 23 points on 10 of 20 shooting.

Rookie Omar Calhoun had 20 points to lead UConn.
