(LOS ANGELES) — Lance Armstrong may no longer be able to compete in the Tour de France in the wake of his admission that he used performance-enhancing drugs, but he apparently can still contend, if he chooses, for the Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophy.
Sources tell Entertainment Weekly ABC offered Armstrong a spot on the upcoming edition of Dancing with the Stars. The source says Armstrong declined.
The report says the network approached Armstrong before his revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey.
EW reports Armstrong’s spokesman confirms the DWTS offer, saying, “Lance has been offered the show each and every year since its inception. Although flattered he has passed on their generous offers.”
The source says Armstrong is one of several “big get” celebrities who are regularly invited to participate in the ballroom reality series.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Lindsay Lohan had also turned down an offer to appear on Dancing with the Stars.
