Kelly had previously turned down the offer by the Eagles after his first interview.  Philadelphia had targeted Kelly as their top person to take over for Andy Reid.

Kelly led the Ducks to four straight BCS bowl games during his four seasons as head coach.  With the hiring of Kelly, two head coaching jobs remain in the NFL.

“Chip Kelly will be an outstanding head coach for the Eagles,” said Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. “He has a brilliant football mind. He motivates his team with his actions as well as his words. He will be a great leader for us and will bring a fresh, energetic approach to our team.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Arizona Cardinals are the last two remaining teams without a head coach.

Kelly was 46-7 in four years as head coach at Oregon.
