Suns Part Ways With Alvin Gentry
Published at(PHOENIX) — The sun has set on Alvin Gentry in Phoenix.
The Phoenix Suns announced Friday that they have “mutally agreed to part ways” with coach Alvin Gentry.
The team said in a release that an interim coach would be announced within 48 hours.
Gentry had coached the team since 2008, and went 158-144 during that span. However, the team has wilted recently, losing 13 of 15 and four straight on their home floor.
The team has been rebuilding since Amare Stoudemire left in free agency and point guard Steve Nash went to the Los Angeles Lakers last offseason.
Gentry had been with the Suns since coming as an assistant coach under then-coach Mike D’Antoni.
