Two Killed in Jackson Avalanches

(JACKSON HOLE, WY) — Two Jackson residents were killed in separate avalanches Sunday. Thirty-year-old Nicholas Gillespie was killed in a slide on Survey Peak on the north end of the Teton Range. Twenty-Eight-year-old Liza Benson died after striking a tree in a small avalanche near Bondurant. Officials caution that avalanche danger in the area surrounding Jackson Hole is significant in elevations between 9,000 and 11,000 feet.
