Rookie Brandon Saad scored a short-handed goal in the third period for the Blackhawks (14-0-3, 31 pts), snapping a 1-1 tie.

Viktor Stalberg also tacked on a goal for Chicago, who has captured 31 out of a possible 34 points so far this season.  Ray Emery stopped 26 shots in the win.

They have now scored at least one point in each of their first 17 games this season and have yet to lose in regulation.

The 2006-2007 Anaheim Ducks previously held the record, earning points in their first 16 games that year.
