Detroit selected Young out of Boise State with the 44th overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft. In 26 career games with the Lions, the 23-year-old had 81 receptions for 990 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Last month, Young tweeted that he wanted the Lions to release him if he did not have a future with the team. He later went on to tweet, “Oh I’m not done, if y’all going to cut me let me go. I’m tired of threats.”

Young was sent home from the team in November for what Lions head coach Jim Schwatz called “unacceptable behavior.” The team later placed him on injured reserve.
