Developer Seeks Tourist Resort in Island Park

(ISLAND PARK, ID)  —  An area developer has proposed plans for a tourist resort for the Island Park region. At a public meeting Wednesday evening, Jerry Greenfield presented ideas for a large-scale resort including condominiums, movie theaters, and restaurants. Given Island Park’s proximity to Yellowstone, Greenfield hopes to capitalize on the hundreds of thousands of visitors coming through eastern Idaho every year. Greenfield is working on a potential land swap with the U.S. Forest Service, noting that the resort likely wouldn’t be operable for another decade.

    Awful idea. The current attractions can’t stay full and make money in Island Park, let alone something much larger than anything currently there. Who knows? Maybe in 10 years…. I guess he can’t learn from the past ski resort that didn’t make it, or the multiple restaurants that have folded…
