(POCATELLO, ID)  — The Pocatello School Board has voted in favor of allowing gun safes for school resource officers.  The safes will be used to secure service rifles and any evidence collected during the day. Officers had previously expressed concerns that items in their offices were too accessible to outsiders, such as janitors and administrators. The move comes less than two months after the Sandy Hook shooting, which prompted many school districts to use more resource officers. District 25 also vowed not to consider any measures that would arm teachers.
