NBA Players Union Fires Billy Hunter
(HOUSTON) — After serving 17-years as the National Basketball Players Associations’ executive director, Billy Hunter was fired Saturday.
Hunter had recently been subject of an independent review that found his hiring practices, contract negotiations, financial decisions and use of vacation days questionable.
He was unanimously voted out 24-0 by team representatives, with six teams abstaining from voting.
“Today for the National Basketball Players Association was a day of change,” Union president Derek Fisher said. “Players representatives in the general body of our association have made their voice and their votes heard. Today, the motion was raised, seconded and passed unanimously that we will terminate the employment of Billy Hunter.”
