Rob Carr/Getty Images(NEW YORK) —  According to league sources, the New Orleans Saints plan to hire former Dallas Cowboys assistant Rob Ryan to be their new defensive coordinator.

Ryan was fired by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones last month after the team went 8-8 in 2012 and missed the playoffs.

The 50-year old Ryan is well known for saying “I’ll be out of work for like five minutes,” when he was fired by the Cowboys.

It has been a lot longer than five minutes, as Ryan has been out of work for almost one month.  He met with the St. Louis Rams on more than one occasion, but the team made the decision not to hire him.

Rob’s brother Rex Ryan is the current head coach of the New York Jets.
