The top-seeded Bulldogs survived a scare from Southern on Thursday, pulling out a 64-58 win in the second-round of the NCAA tournament.
Tied at 56 with 3:45 remaining, the Zags took a four-point lead thanks to three-pointers by Gary Bell Jr. and Kevin Pagnos that helped ice the game.
Kelly Olynyk led Gonzaga (32-2), with 21 points and ten rebounds. They will face (9) Wichita State on Saturday.
Derick Beltran paced Southern (23-10), with 21 points. He was the only player in double-figures for the Jaguars.
A No. 16 seed has never defeated a top-seed in the NCAA tournament.
