The verdicts were delivered on Monday morning with a jury finding Kilpatrick guilty on 24 charges, which also included bribery along with wire and tax fraud. The former mayor was found not guilty on three other charges, while no verdict was reached on an additional three charges.

Ferguson was found guilty on 9 out of 11 charges. The contractor was found not guilty on one charge and no verdict was reached on another.

Kilpatrick’s father, Bernard Kilpatrick, was found guilty on a tax charge, but not guilty on two charges and no verdict was reached on a fourth charge.

Following the reading of the verdicts, Detroit’s current Mayor Dave Bing issued a statement saying, “I am pleased that this long trial has ended and we can finally put this negative chapter in Detroit’s history behind us. It is time for all of us to move forward with a renewed commitment to transparency and high ethical standards in our City government.”
