‘Internal Issue’ Wipes Out Chase Customers’ Balances
(NEW YORK) — Chase customers were in for quite a scare Monday when they logged onto their checking accounts online and on the bank’s mobile app.
For many customers, their balances appeared as $0.00.
“*ALERT* Customers are unable to view their checking account balances online and on mobile. We will keep you updated as we learn more,” Chase (@ChaseSupport) tweeted on Monday.
The bank later said in a statement that the issue had “nothing to do with cyber threats…It is an internal issue. We are very sorry to our customers for the inconvenience.”
Just last week, Chase’s website was down for hours after the bank said it was the victim of a cyber attack called a denial of service (DOS).
Chase tweeted late Monday that the latest mishap had been resolved: “UPDATE* We’re back to business as usual on http://Chase.com & Mobile. Apologies again for the trouble & thank you for your patience.”
