(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – A lost Purple Heart award was returned to a family in Idaho Falls Saturday. 20-year-old George Story was a sailor aboard the U.S.S. Bunker Hill when he was killed in a kamikaze attack during the Battle of Okinawa. His family received Story’s Purple Heart posthumously, but misplaced it years later. The medal was found by Roger Balbo, who then gave it to a man who specializes in returning medals to their owners. The medal was given to Story’s sister, Shirley Cowell. She says she’s happy to see the medal back in good hands.
