Raymond Roth, of Long Beach, N.Y. was arrested Wednesday in Freeport, N.Y., after allegedly chasing a female and ordering her into his van.

According to a police statement, Roth approached a 38-year-old female while driving a white minivan with a brown lower panel.  He continually yelled at her to get into the minivan and when she kept walking, he said he was a police officer and threatened to arrest her, police said.

The woman fled into a check cashing store and hid behind the store security door, and Roth demanded the employees open the door, according to the statement. When the employees refused to comply with his demand and called the police, Roth fled the scene.

Roth is being charged with criminal impersonation, attempted burglary and attempted kidnapping.

Nassau County Police spokesman Officer James Imperiale told ABC News that the incident was similar to others in recent weeks.

“There are two other instances that happened in February and March that [police] are looking into. They both happened in Freeport,” Imperiale said.  Roth has not been charged in connection with those investigations.

Roth was arraigned Thursday morning in Nassau County Court, where he entered a not guilty plea. He was remanded and remains in custody.  His next scheduled court date is April 24.

In 2012 Roth pleaded guilty to fourth-degree conspiracy for faking his own death, pretending to drown at Jones Beach last July.  He served 90 days in jail for the fake drowning and was ordered to pay authorities $35,000 for their search efforts.
