(NEW YORK) — One of the most cringe-inducing scenes in There’s Something About Mary — in which Ben Stiller snags himself in his fly — is a fate that has sent more than 17,000 men to hospitals in the U.S. in the past decade.
According to a study that was published in the British Journal of Urology International, 17,616 men have ended up in the emergency room after suffering similar snags, and many ended up with infections from the injuries.
Best practices for the injuries are common sense: not to pull the zipper too hard, and make sure to keep the injury site clean.
The report was compiled to help train ER doctors, and find the best way to treat men who’ve felt the bite.
