Police Chase in Pocatello, Ends with the Suspect Shot and Killed

(CHUBBUCK, ID)  —  One person is dead after a police involved shooting Thursday night in Chubbuck.  The incident began as a welfare check at a residence in Pocatello, and a high speed chase ensued.   Speeds exceeded 70-MPH on city streets and ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle into the Pine Ridge Apartments.  The suspect then went into the PetCo at the Pine Ridge Mall and took a hostage, threatening the hostage to officers.   The suspect eventually tried to run from officers.  He was ordered to stop and get on the ground, when he did not comply a Bannock County Sheriff’s Deputy fired a shot and killed the suspect.  No one else, including officers were injured in the incident.   Bingham County Sheriff will take over the investigative process.  No other information has yet been released.
