77th Masters Day 1 Recap

Getty S 041113 Golf?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1365713886793Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images(AUGUSTA, Ga.) — Marc Leishman and Sergio Garcia shot a 6-under 66 on Thursday and are tied for lead at the 77th Masters.  Tiger Woods shot 2-under-par 7 and is among many with a 70 for round one.

Dustin Johnson finished 5-under 67 and holds a one stoke lead over David Lynn, Rickie Fowler, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Matt Kuchar, Fred Couples and 2008 Masters champ Trevor Immelman, who all sit at 68.

“We’ve got a long way to go,” Woods told ESPN.  “Just go out there and play the shot for shot.  This golf course is going to change dramatically by tomorrow, just gotta make the adjustments.”

Americans Jim Furyk and Zach Johnson both shot a 69.

Lee Westwood and Brandt Snedeker are tied with Woods at 70.  Rory McIlroy finished even with a 72. 

Phil Mickelson shot a 1-under 71.  Fourteen-year-old Tianlang Guan finished 1-over 73.

Last year’s champ Bubba Watson had a tough day, finishing with a 3-over 75.
