(WASHINGTON) — Paul Maholm pitched 7 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, leading the Atlanta Braves to their ninth straight win by beating the Washington Nationals 9-0 Sunday.
The win gave the Braves the series sweep.
Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez (1-1) received the loss, giving up seven runs in five innings.
Justin Upton hit his league-leading seventh home run, and Chris Johnson had four hits in the victory.
The Nationals (7-5) sent catcher Wilson Ramos to the 15-day disabled list Sunday morning and called up Jhonatan Solano.
The Braves (11-1) have the best record in baseball and have now swept three straight series for the first time since 2000.
