Warner Bros.(HOLLYWOOD, Calif.) — The Jackie Robinson biopic 42 smashed expectations, opening to an estimated $27.3 million.

It’s the best opening ever for a baseball movie, and it earned a rare A+ cinemascore from audiences.

Far behind in second, Scary Movie 5 opened to a disappointing 15.2 million, according to studio estimates. It’s the worst opening for the franchise—Scary Movie 4 earned $40 million opening weekend in 2006.

The Croods finished third for the weekend.
