Jobless Claims Rise to 385K Ahead of March Jobs Report
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims continued to climb last week, rising by 28,000 to wrap up the month of March, the latest figures released Thursday by the Labor Department show.
For the week ending March 30, the number of people filing for benefits shot up to 385,000. The previous week, claims stood at 357,000.
The four-week average also went up, increasing by 11,250 to 354,250.
On Friday, Americans will get a better picture of how the jobs market fared last month when the Labor Department releases its monthly employment report at 8:30 a.m. ET.
