LDS Leader Charged With Sex Abuse

(SALT LAKE CITY, UT) – A local-level LDS Church leader in Orem, Utah has been charged with sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl. 31-year-old Cesar Duran was a first counselor in the Bishopric of his Spanish-speaking congregation. Duran is being held in the Utah County Jail on suspicion of sexually abusing a child in a position of trust. Investigators say the alleged abuse occurred when the girl’s family was helping to clean the church building on Monday.
